Job Description Location: 1520 Broad Ave. Gulfport,MS 39501. Job Summary: Performs International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding of all patient charts for billing, case mix, and data collection purposes. Subsequently, assigns Diagnostic Related Group (DRG) and Ambulatory Patient Classification (APC). Performs retrospective review of patient charts. In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Certified Inpatient Coder is responsible for assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and/or CPT codes based on physician documentation. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times. Job Functions: Codes charts within an appropriate number of charts per hour. Coordinates completion of A/R report with CDI staff and providers. Ensures diagnostic and procedure codes are assigned accurately to inpatient encounters based upon documentation within the electronic medical record while maintaining compliance with established rules and regulatory guidelines.
