To support healthcare operations, the part-time Remote Outpatient Medical Coder will provide coding and abstracting services for emergency room facility accounts, utilizing established coding principles to assign diagnostic and procedural codes based on thorough medical record reviews. Key responsibilities Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures for emergency room encounters Assign Evaluation & Management (E/M) levels and appropriate CPT codes for procedures, injections, and infusions Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and participate in Coding Roundtables to discuss relevant coding issues Required qualifications CPC and COC coding credentials Over 3 years of experience coding Facility-HB charts for Outpatient (Ancillary, Clinic, and ED) Experience with Ancillary ICD & CPT, Clinic ICD, CPT, E&Ms, and ED ICD, CPT, E&Ms, I&Is Extensive knowledge of CPT/HCPCS coding principles and reimbursement regulations A passing score on coding proficiency tests is required
