Job Description

Reviewing patient records for accurate coding, the remote Certified Coder - CA Licensed will abstract diagnosis and procedure codes, ensuring compliance with guidelines while collaborating with departmental leadership to enhance coding practices. Key responsibilities Abstracts and assigns diagnosis and procedure codes from patient records for billing and reimbursement Audits medical records to ensure compliance with coding standards and regulatory requirements Collaborates with departmental leadership to provide feedback and education on documentation and coding practices Required qualifications High School Education/GED or equivalent, with an Associate's/Technical Degree preferred Two years of coding experience in a healthcare setting preferred Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Outpatient Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent required Knowledge of coding guidelines and legal requirements for compliance with federal and state regulations Experience in auditing medical records for accuracy and completeness preferred
