Job Description

To support Yale Medicine Administration, the full-time remote Connecticut Licensed Medical Coder will review charge submissions for compliance with coding guidelines, ensure accurate billing of professional charges, and maintain productivity in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities Review clinical documentation to confirm diagnostic and procedural codes, ensuring compliance with established guidelines Verify information required for clean claims submission and ensure adherence to Teaching Physician guidelines Participate in team training and maintain professional knowledge through educational workshops and publications Required qualifications General knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding, medical terminology, and digital coding resources Experience with electronic health records and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook Knowledge of Federal payer regulations, third-party payers, and HIPAA rules Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) certification required, with a goal to achieve CPC status within 2 years Four years of related work experience, including two years in a similar role, or an Associate's degree with relevant experience
