To support healthcare coding needs, the remote PRN Multi-Specialty Coder will assign appropriate codes for inpatient and outpatient records, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and maintaining accuracy for financial reimbursement. Key responsibilities Reviews and codes medical records using CPT, ICD, and MS-DRG guidelines for reimbursement and research Resolves pre-bill edits and denials for assigned accounts, ensuring all encounters are coded accurately Maintains up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations and participates in departmental training to enhance coding skills Required qualifications High school diploma or GED required One of the following coding certifications at the time of hire: HCS-D, CCS, CCS-P, CPC-H, CPC, or RHIT/RHIA with a coding credential achieved within one year One to three years of coding experience required Proficient in computer skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with an encoder and Electronic Medical Records preferred Ability to utilize internet and electronic resources for research purposes
