Inpatient Coder An inpatient coder is responsible for utilizing coding policies and procedures in evaluating the diagnostic and procedural information within the medical record for determination of accurate DRG or APC assignment for reimbursement of services rendered and for verifying/abstracting clinical information into the organization's health database. An inpatient coder functions under the direct authority and supervision of the Coding Supervisor and Director of the Health Information Management Department.
