Medical Records Technician (Coder) This position is located in the Health Information Management (HIM) section of the Health Administration Service at the Central Iowa Health Care System. The Medical Records Technician (Coder) is responsible for abstracting medical record data and assigning codes using current clinical classification systems appropriate for the type of care provided. Major duties include: Assigns codes to documented patient care encounters (outpatient) for one or more specialty and subspecialty health care services provided by the VAMC.
