Position Summary:

Oversees the billing and accounts receivable function for all charges for designated financial classes. Oversees the production of claims and appeals. Processes all correspondence received from insurers, including appeals for additional reimbursement, posting payments, and follow–ups on receivables.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates billing of inpatient and outpatient accounts. Ensures appropriate payment and reduction in accounts receivable.
  • Coordinates billing procedures for all third–party payers. Reviews billed accounts to insure accuracy.
  • Ensures appropriate write–offs are posted and accurate.
  • Interfaces with Information Systems to ensure accurate and timely changes to computer system. Maintains billing resource files. Continues efforts to increase billing of all financial classes electronically.
  • Maintains policy and procedure manual for area. Ensures that staff is following established policy and procedures.

Required:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Healthcare industry.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

Three to five years of experience in the Healthcare industry, with at least two years of responsibility for third?party accounts receivable. Two to three years of supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to provide direction and leadership to staff. Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Comprehensive knowledge of third?party regulatory guidelines, CPT, ICD, and HCPCS coding and modifier assignment as it applies to billing and collections. Experience with third?party electronic and paper remittance process. Demonstrated proficiency in use of PCs to include ability to perform spreadsheet and word processing applications. Proven analytical, research and evaluation skills required to make recommendations and implement operational improvement strategies as part of a cohesive team.
