Overview
Job Title: Biller / Medical Coder. Location: Louisville, MS.
Responsibilities
Medical Coding: Review medical records and assign accurate CPT, ICD, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services.
Billing: Prepare, submit, and track claims to insurance companies (Medicare, Medicaid, private) and patients.
Denial Management: Investigate and correct rejected claims, initiating appeals when necessary.
Patient Accounts: Handle patient billing questions, explain charges, and set up payment plans.
Insurance Verification: Check patient eligibility and benefits before services.
Record Management: Maintain accurate patient billing and coding records within EHR/billing software.
Key Duties & Tasks
Stay updated on coding guidelines, regulations, and software.
Collaborate with providers to ensure documentation supports coding.
Ensure confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA.
Track billing metrics and audit records for accuracy.
Essential Skills
Knowledge of medical terminology, codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS).
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Proficiency with computers, EHR systems, and billing software.
Good communication and customer service for interacting with patients and insurers.
