Specialty Physician Coder – Cardiology Location: Fountain Valley, CA (Predominately Remote / Must be located in California) Department: Document Improvement Status: Full-Time Shift: Days (8 hr) Pay Range: $33.79/hr - $49.00/hr Position Summary Under the direction of the Coding Compliance Manager, the Specialty Physician Coder reviews and analyzes specialty coding and billing for charge processing and ensures accurate, compliant medical coding for inpatient and outpatient services, diagnostic tests, and other medical services. The coder will work with the Coding Compliance Manager on identified coding trends and irregularities and needed action items. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. Proficient in Epic software. Strong analytical skills. Strong critical thinking skills. Detail oriented. Ability to research and resolve problems (strong problem‑solving skills). Strong understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle. Excellent communication skills, able to communicate information accurately and clearly. Ability to manage interpersonal relationships and effectively communicate with clinical partners and other teams. Provide excellent customer service and address a moderate amount of incoming email and phone calls. Collaborative team player adaptable to the ever‑changing healthcare environment. Professional demeanor at all times. Handle complex and confidential information with discretion. Maintain patient confidentiality. Maintain a safe and orderly work area. Interact in a positive and constructive manner. Prioritize tasks and multitask. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, additional compensation may be available for this role, including shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonuses. Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience 3 years’ experience working in a hospital or physician’s office as a medical coder and interacting with physicians. 1 year’s experience as a specialty coder in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Medical Hematology/Oncology, OBGYN, Pulmonology, General Surgery, or Radiation Oncology. Expert knowledge of ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Epic software experience highly desired. Proficient Microsoft skills. Education/Licensure/Certification High School diploma or GED required. CPC, CCS, or equivalent certification required. Specialty coding certification highly desired. #J-18808-Ljbffr
