Job Title
Join the HIM team as an HIM Coder/Technician and support the medical records department through a variety of coding, clerical, technical, and related support services.
Position Summary: $1500 Sign On Bonus
Responsibilities:
- Coding, assembly and analysis of discharge medical records
- Reviews records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Coding of the medical records using ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPC guidelines
- Maintains filing of all loose filing of the medical records
- Assists with Release of Information
- Maintains and operates a variety of health records indexes and storage retrieval systems to index, classify, store and analyze information
- Ability to multitask and is well organized
- Assists other departments in their need for retrieval of the paper medical record and management of patient information
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Certified Coding Associate (CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required
- Two years post high school education or the equivalent experience combination of education and Medical Records experience preferred
- Previous experience in Coding ICD-10 CM/PCS-CM, CPT and HCPCS as well as similar position in health information management preferred
- Experience in a health care psychiatric facility preferred
- Must pass a coding test at 85% or better
