Job Summary
The Coding Specialist is a functional member of Central Business Services at SMG. The Specialist is an entry‑level coding professional responsible for the timely, accurate, and comprehensive review of provider claims to optimize reimbursement and ensure compliance with all regulatory statutes. This position also works with the department to identify trends and educational opportunities for providers to ensure proper coding, documentation, and accuracy of billing within their areas of responsibility/specialty.
Required Qualifications
National Certified Inpatient Coder upon hire.
National Certified Professional Coder upon hire.
National Certified Coding Specialist – American Health Information Management Association upon hire.
National Certified Coding Specialist – Physician – American Health Information Management Association upon hire.
National Registered Health Information Technician – American Health Information Management Association upon hire.
National Registered Health Information Administrator – American Health Information Management Association upon hire.
2 years ICD‑10‑CM and CPT coding experience performing clinic and hospital based inpatient and outpatient coding for professional billing.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's Degree or equivalent technical school completion of a certified coding program and 2 to 3 years related coding experience. Will consider applicants with relevant education and/or experience.

Location: Swedish Metropolitan Park East – Seattle, WA
Pay Range: $29.62 - $45.31 per hour (base pay range; additional compensation such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities may be available.)
