Position
Vascular (CVTS) Specialized Coder – Full‑time onsite role at Ardent – Hillcrest Medical Center, Tulsa, OK.
Compensation
Pay range: $29.75 – $32.70/hour based on experience.
Job Responsibilities
Code claims directly from the medical record/operative report according to coding guidelines.
Accurately and timely complete work queues as assigned.
Track and identify trends within charge review and follow‑up work queues, assist leadership in resolving those trends and/or educational needs, and research denied claims.
Maintain compliance with established corporate and departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement program, customer service, and productivity expectations.
Achieve individual quality and productivity performance metrics in daily duties as set by coding leadership.
Provide or assist with provider education and develop educational tools; communicate professionally with physicians, management, and peers.
Participate in all educational activities, including coding meetings/calls necessary to provide information relating to coding and compliance; stay abreast of payer guideline changes, Coding Initiative edits, and Coverage Determinations; mentor team members.
Takes initiative for learning new skills and participates in projects, committees, and other activities as deemed appropriate; demonstrates personal responsibility for job performance.
Extensive knowledge of physician coding within a specific specialty and the ability to support the coding team and providers.
Possible travel for education sessions, CME events, etc. as defined by Physician Revenue Cycle Leadership.
Desired Experience
3+ years of coding experience.
Extensive knowledge of physician coding with expert knowledge in Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery and/or Vascular Surgery.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology, ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, and HCPCS.
PC and computer application knowledge, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Excellent organization, communication, time‑management, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to multi‑task and prioritize to meet short‑ and long‑term timelines.
Experience with EPIC and coding software tools.
Inquisitive and open to innovation, including AI to improve processes and patient/client experiences.
Minimum Education
High School Diploma or GED.
Required Certifications
CPC (Certified Professional Coder)
CCS (Certified Coding Specialist)
RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator)
RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)
