Job Description

Overview Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Proficient in basic computer skills. Ability to perform job duties using an electronic medical record system. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology. Knowledge of coding classification systems and procedures. Responsibilities Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology in coding tasks. Utilize knowledge of coding classification systems and procedures in outpatient and physician billing contexts. Work independently with minimal supervision and maintain effectiveness in a high-stress environment; exercise decisive judgment and effective communication. Operate electronic medical record systems and basic computer applications to perform coding duties. Qualifications HIM coder: one (1) year hospital-based outpatient coding experience. Physician Billing Coder: one (1) year diagnostic/procedural office coding experience with surgical coding experience or six (6) months working within the Memorial Health System. For HIM: For professional certifications, RHIT or RHIA or CCS or CCA; For Physician Billing: CPC, CPMA, CRC by AAPC or CCS or CCSP by AHIMA; For Hospital Billing: CCS, CCA or CPC. #J-18808-Ljbffr
