Position Summary Handles, posts and resolves patient charge entry for both the clinic and all surgery locations at Bone and Joint Institute. Assist with business office matters as needed and/or assigned by management. Key Results Competently understand and work the EMR and billing systems in order to ensure accurate and timely input of E&M and Surgery Charges. Assist phone patients with basic account information or request, i.e., account balance, itemized bills, insurance verification as needed or instructed by management. Analyze and track surgical charges compared to physician logs and Coder’s spreadsheets. Provides billing reconciliation and completes monthly close timely. Works with clinical staff to ensure diagnoses match with CPT billing. Work missing slips to ensure all billable charges are being entered. Work with all providers (physician, mid-levels and therapist) to ensure documentation is appropriate for billing. Manage claim hold buckets that pertain to clinical and surgical CPT/ICD10 issues for assigned providers. Obtain appropriate CEU’s to maintain coding certification on an annual basis. Reports concerns requiring attention to manager or director. Employee is a problems solver that brings possible solutions when presenting concerns or problems. Maintains open line of communication with all staff members; interacts with staff/patients in a professional and constructive manner regarding all billing/coding needs. Participates in departmental meetings/huddles/etc. and recommends improvement opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned by manager and independently seeks out job duties during down time.
