Medical Record Coder II - Full Time (7446-3715)
Rockdale Medical Center
Applies the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to accounts for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. Submits queries to physicians of record when additional information is required.
Reports to: Assistant Director, Health Information Mgmt.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
3-5 years inpatient coding experience in a hospital setting (Preferred)
General knowledge of Anatomy/Physiology, Medical Terminology, Disease Pathology, and Pathophysiology
Understanding of DNFB and managing outstanding Accounts Receivables due to lack of Final Diagnoses
Knowledge and adherence to HIM.COD policies
3-5 years ICD-9-CM coding experience
Experience with industry standard Encoders and HIS systems
Experience working in Community Acute Care hospitals
Understanding of maintaining DNFB at lowest levels obtainable
Required Skills
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to work in a stressful environment
Proficiency in ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic, HCPCS/CPT coding systems, CPT Assistant, Coding Clinic for HCPCS guidelines, Medicare OPPS, and APC
Certifications
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
RHIT/RHIA credential
Coding Specialist Credential
