The Coding & Reimbursement Analyst temp will be providing short-term, high-impact, project based (as needed working up to 19.5 hours a week) support to the Physician Payment & Reimbursement function by triaging coding questions, conducting code research, drafting internal summaries, and supporting meeting preparation and follow-up related to AUA’s participation in the American Medical Association’s RUC and CPT processes, provide expert-level technical coding guidance, and serve as a staff resource in urology coding and reimbursement, payer policy, and coverage, claims, and billing issues. This role is designed to stabilize workload during periods of high volume and ensure continuity across recurring coding and reimbursement activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Coding Research and Support
• Triage and respond to routine coding and reimbursement inquiries from urologists and practice managers.
• Track recurring coding issues and trends raised by members or stakeholders.
• Provide coding guidance for urologists on site at AUA’s Annual Meeting.
CPT/RUC Support
• Support preparation and follow-up for CPT and RUC-related activities. This includes but is not limited to supporting preparation of code change applications, RUC survey materials, and RUC recommendation materials.
• Analyze RUC survey data and other large data sets.
• Assist with background materials for coding workgroups and strategy discussions.
Insurer Relations and Payment Policy Support
· Provide strategic advice and technical support for insurance coverage and payment issues.
Administrative Support
· Monitor and triage the payment policy inbox and coordinate follow-up.
· Maintain or assist with the maintenance of AUA’s industry consulting program tracker and coordinate/assist with coordination of follow-up.
Other Support
· Upon request, provide practice management (coding, billing, and claims) support at meetings or in response to staff or member inquiries.
· Provide expert-level, technical guidance on use of existing urology-related codes
Qualifications
• Strong knowledge and experience in medical coding and reimbursement required; experience in urology coding strongly preferred.
• CPC Certification.
• Knowledge of American Medical Association RUC and CPT processes.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability and experience working with large data sets.
• Excellent professional judgment
• Experience with specialty societies, payer policy, MAC LCDs preferred.
