About The Position

  • Possess advanced knowledge of key coding systems including ICD-CM, PCS, CPT-4, and HCPCS.
  • Understand reimbursement structures like Prospective Payment System (PPS), Diagnostic Related Groupings (DRGs), and Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC).
  • Create precise and detailed audit reports with findings and recommendations for Coders, Auditors, Managers, and Directors. Educational feedback based on your findings will be invaluable!
  • Identify and communicate documentation issues that may impact coding accuracy, along with opportunities for improvement.
  • Guide staff through recognizing and resolving coding issues and error trends to foster continuous improvement.
  • Conduct ongoing training for coding staff on the latest updates in coding practices and address weaknesses identified during audits.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A formal coding program completion with preference for AHIMA and AAPC credentials (CCS, RHIT, CIC) and over 5 years of progressive coding/reimbursement experience.
  • Proficient in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and health record content.
  • A strong grasp of coding guidelines and the ability to apply them effectively to audit findings.
  • Skilled in navigating multiple client systems and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with Cerner, EPIC, and 3M 360 Encompass is preferred.
  • Experience auditing within an academic medical facility is advantageous.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM EST. Compensation Range: $28-$30/hour. Full-time position.
