Position Summary:
Responsible for reviewing surgical operative reports to accurately assign CPT, ICD-10, and modifiers for surgical and anesthesia service. Provide a high level of technical multispecialty surgical coding competency.
Education, License & Cert:
Degree in Health Information Technology or possession of RRA, ART, CCS, or CPC certification required.
Experience:
Minimum three years' experience in physician coding and reimbursement. Prior surgical coding preferred.
Essential Functions:
1. Review physician's documentation and assigned CPT, ICD-10, and modifiers to all surgical and anesthesia services.
2. Communicates to appropriate parties any operative note deficiencies requiring completion or addendums needed.
3. Maintain a charge reconciliation process to ensure all revenue has been captured.
4. Ensure all regulations are met and claims subsequently submitted to payers accurately.
Other Duties:
1. Contribute to maintaining a team environment. Must work in a way that demonstrates and promotes teamwork.
2. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient accounting.
3. Performs other duties as assigned.
