Candidates must reside in MD, DC, PA, VA or WVAAbout the Role: - Responsible for the collection, capture and analysis of all data pertinent to the proper function of the Trauma Division.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - On a daily basis, identifies all new trauma patients and prepares a daily trauma census.
- Assists Trauma Nurse Coordinator in identification of patients to be included in the Trauma Registry and assignment of trauma case number according to MIEMSS criteria.
- Abstract all relevant data from patient medical records, computerized hospital databases and other information sources as needed; enters data into Trauma Registry.
- Utilizes ICD-9 and CPT coding to accurately identify all relevant diagnoses, complications and hospital procedures.
- Maintains up to date knowledge in coding and injury severity scoring.
- Collects and analyzes data related to Trauma Registry.
- Utilizes data to compute ISS, RTS, AIS and other relevant injury severity scores.
- Under supervision of the Trauma Nurse Coordinator, prepares and/or presents reports and analyses for MIEMSS audit filter, PI processes and other division/departmental/Hospital purposes (i. e. monthly departmental/interdisciplinary morbidity/mortality and trauma committees), state and local agencies.
- Participates in statewide Maryland Trauma Registry Committee.
REQUIREMENTS: - Education: Associate's degree required
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience
Salary range $22 to $29/hour dependent on experience and internal equity
