Inhouse Certified Biller/coder

As a Medical Biller, you will play a pivotal role in the healthcare system by ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services. Your expertise in medical terminology and coding systems will be essential as you navigate through patient records and insurance claims. You’ll work closely with healthcare providers and insurance companies to facilitate smooth billing processes, making a significant impact on the financial health of the organization.

What you’ll do

• Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems, including ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding.
• Review patient records to ensure accuracy in billing and coding, addressing any discrepancies promptly.
• Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and conducting medical collections as necessary.
• Utilize Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to maintain accurate patient information and billing records.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives to resolve billing inquiries and issues.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
• Generate reports on billing activities and collections for management review.
• This is an inhouse position and you will need to be onsite.

Basic qualifications

• Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding practices, including DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) methodologies.
• Proficiency in using EMR and EHR systems for efficient record-keeping.
• At least 3 years experience in a medical office setting with hands-on experience in medical billing and coding.

Preferred qualifications

• Familiarity with both ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems.
• Experience with medical collections processes.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Certified medical coder/biller
• Very knowledgeable in claims/follow up/denials
