Position: Medical Supervisor
Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt, Hourly
Reports To: Director of Emergency and Track Services
JOB SUMMARY
The Medical Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, coordination, training, and operational readiness of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel assigned to emergency response operations at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This position oversees day-to-day EMS functions for a non-transporting agency, including personnel development, regulatory compliance, medication and controlled substance accountability, medical supply management, and emergency response operations.
The Medical Supervisor will respond to medical and traumatic emergencies during on-site events including NASCAR and other sanctioned activities, while coordinating care with transport agencies, local fire departments, law enforcement, military partners, and contracted medical personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Supervisory & Administrative Duties - Supervise EMS personnel assigned to emergency response operations
- Train, mentor, evaluate, and develop EMS staff
- Provide leadership and performance management of assigned personnel
- Develop and implement EMS operational programs
- Develop and maintain EMS policies and procedures
- Coordinate onboarding and training of new EMS employees
- Deliver customer service to internal departments, participants, and guests
- Schedule and ensure adequate EMS staffing levels for events
Operational EMS Duties - Respond to medical and traumatic emergencies on-site
- Provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) care within scope of practice
- Serve as lead EMS provider during incidents
- Fill in for ambulance paramedic staffing assignments when operationally required
- Provide standby medical support for events and activities
- Coordinate with transport providers and receiving facilities
- Provide first aid training to security and other facility personnel
Training & Education - Obtain and maintain CPR Instructor certification
- Obtain and maintain Clark County Health District EMS Instructor status
- Conduct internal EMS training and continuing education
- Deliver first aid, CPR, and emergency response training to non-EMS personnel
- Develop EMS training programs and skill verification processes
Medication & Equipment Management - Order, receive, secure, and account for controlled substances
- Maintain compliance with medication storage and documentation requirements
- Coordinate medication procurement with Medical Director
- Maintain EMS inventory and supply levels
- Order EMS equipment and consumable medical supplies
- Ensure operational readiness of EMS response equipment
Interagency Coordination - Coordinate EMS operations with:
- American Medical Response
- Clark County Fire Department
- Nellis Air Force Base
- Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department
- Coordinate care with event physicians and nursing staff
- Communicate with receiving hospitals and medical transport agencies
- Work with Medical Director regarding medication ordering and protocols
Minimum Qualifications - Valid Southern Nevada Health District Paramedic License
- Current CPR Certification
- Current ACLS Certification
- Current PALS Certification
- Valid State of Nevada Driver's License
- Minimum of three (3) years of paramedic field experience
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
Required Certifications (Within 12 Months of Hire/Promotion) - CPR Instructor Certification
- Clark County Health District EMS Instructor Authorization
Physical Requirements - Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
- Ability to drag or move patients weighing up to 150 pounds with assistance
- Ability to kneel, crawl, bend, climb, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to perform sustained physical activity for 10-20 minutes
- Ability to operate in PPE and adverse environmental conditions
Work Environment - Exposure to loud noise, weather extremes, and large crowds
- Exposure to medical and traumatic emergencies
- Work in indoor and outdoor environments
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
