The Internal Audit Division provides independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the department's operations. Internal Audit helps the department accomplish mission by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control processes.
The Auditor Supervisor leads and oversees operational, compliance, and financial audits across the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Public Safety Services. This role evaluates internal controls, financial accuracy, and operational efficiency while supervising audit staff and reviewing audit plans, workpapers, and reports. The position develops risk-based audit programs, ensures compliance with applicable regulations, and prepares clear, actionable reports with findings and recommendations to support accountability and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
Six years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following: accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems plus three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR

A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following: accounting, auditing, business, finance, management, economics, quantitative methods, or information systems plus three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR

A bachelor's degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics plus three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR

A bachelor's degree plus a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP) designation plus three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR

An advanced degree in accounting, auditing, finance, business administration, management, economics, information systems, quantitative methods, or statistics plus two years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR

A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation plus one year of experience in accounting or auditing.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties
  • Responsible for conducting operational, compliance, and financial audits of all offices within the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Public Safety Services.
  • Conducts audit procedures to assess the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records, and efficiency of operations.
  • Performs reviews of audit plans, workpapers, and reports.
  • Supervises multiple auditors.
  • Works in various capacities as a lead auditor, and supervisor.
  • Learns and understands the departments' operations, management's objectives, policies, and procedures, and relevant state and federal statutes.
  • Develops audit programs based on an understanding of risks and key control points of the system.
  • Prepares audit reports including summaries, findings, conclusions, and recommendations.

Compensation: Pay grade AS-620 has a minimum salary of $2,318.40/bi-weekly; $5,023.00/monthly.
