What We're Looking For

As an experienced inpatient coder, you will play a vital role in our team. We seek candidates with meticulous attention to detail and an extensive knowledge of medical terminology. This fully remote position offers a flexible schedule to help you thrive.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.
  • Abstract and sequence medical codes accurately from patient records while ensuring compliance with documentation standards.
  • Oversee and audit the work of Level 1 & 2 Coders, as needed.
  • Identify and advocate for documentation improvement opportunities and resolve coding issues in collaboration with relevant parties.
  • Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and ensure a 95% accuracy rate for MS-DRG assignments.
  • Meet specific productivity benchmarks for your role.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues, management, and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement matters.

Key Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of inpatient coding experience in a facility setting.
  • Certification such as CCS, RHIT, or RHIA is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree from an AHIMA-certified HIM or Nursing Program or completion of an AHIMA/AAPC certificate program, preferably with CCS.
  • 3+ years of inpatient coding experience at a Level I Trauma Center, ideally in an academic medical facility.
  • Experience in coding quality review feedback.
  • Familiarity with computerized encoding and abstracting software.

The pay range for this role is between $32 and $42 per hour, depending on your location, responsibilities, skills, and experience.
