As an Inpatient Coding Auditor, you will play a vital role in enhancing coding quality, ensuring compliance, and fulfilling educational needs through your expertise. This fully remote position offers you the flexibility to contribute to meaningful change in the healthcare landscape from your own workspace!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive inpatient facility coding audits, adhering to various scopes like Onboarding, Focused reviews, and Service Level Agreements while accurately assigning codes using MS-DRG or APR-DRG systems.

  • Provide clear and concise rationales for coding changes, citing specific references and locations from documentation.

  • Stay abreast of regulatory changes that influence coding practices.

  • Effectively manage multiple cases to ensure optimal workflow and timely completion.

  • Provide coder education throughout the auditing process.

  • Maintain a professional demeanor, efficiency, and a positive attitude in all interactions.

  • Uphold the ethical standards set by the American Health Information Management Association.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to customer service, professionalism, flexibility, and a desire for continuous learning and excellence.

  • Handle complex tasks effectively and make informed decisions.

  • Exhibit exceptional organizational, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Qualifications Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of inpatient facility coding experience and/or auditing.

  • CCS certification is preferred; RHIA or RHIT certification is also a plus.

  • Maintain a DRG accuracy rate of at least 95%.

  • Proficient in using Epic, Cerner, and other common EMR systems.

The estimated hourly pay for this role ranges from $35 to $45 USD. To ensure safety for both patients and staff, certain clients may require post-offer health screenings and proof of various vaccinations; requests for exemptions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
