What We're Excited About:
We seek a Profee Coding Lead with a solid orthopedic background, specializing in spinal procedures. The ideal candidate will efficiently monitor and report on work queue volumes, address coding queries from physicians and staff daily, and effectively communicate between the client and the coding team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review medical record documentation to accurately identify diagnoses and procedures that require coding for profee charts, ensuring compliance with federal regulations.
- Engage with physicians for clarification on code assignments when documentation is unclear or ambiguous.
- Stay updated on coding guidelines and reporting requirements, escalating any concerns to management for resolution.
- Mentor and train new coders and healthcare providers, providing ongoing education to the coding team.
- Assist the coding manager with special projects and coding tasks to address unbilled issues.
- Be a resource for all coding-related inquiries, responding quickly to staff questions.
- Encourage personal and professional growth by fulfilling mandatory and continuing education requirements, contributing to departmental goals that aid in organizational success.
- Monitor and report performance metrics, assist in developing departmental goals, and evaluate goal achievement.
- Recommend and deliver training initiatives to enhance team performance.
- Report any personnel issues to management promptly.
- Act as a resource for staff seeking further training and answers.
- Support management in tracking staff KPIs, timekeeping, and scheduling.
What You Need to Thrive:
- Minimum of 3 years of Profee coding experience.
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience.
- Coding Certification from AAPC or AHIMA is required.
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- An Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or a related field is preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of ICD-10 and Profee coding guidelines.
- Strong experience with billing and denials.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills for data interpretation.
- Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy, medical terminology, and surgical terminology.
- Effective critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Thorough knowledge of coding compliance, guidelines for various specialties, and insurance payor policies.
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience in auditing.
- Experience in education or training.

This position offers a competitive hourly rate ranging from $25-$29.50 USD, which may vary based on location, responsibility, skills, and experience.
