Please review the job information below.***GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:**Assign ICD and CPT/Surgery codes and abstracting to outpatient medical record types including ED, Clinic, Urgent Care, and Ancillary from a full-time remote location in accordance with the department’s established accuracy and productivity requirements.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive; employees will perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or hospital administration as required.* Maintains utmost level of confidentiality at all times.* Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.* Demonstrates business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.* Reviews the medical record and assigns the appropriate ICD and CPT codes.* Codes assigned outpatient record types daily.* Monitors the “uncoded DNB” work queue.* Codes records in a timely manner.* Maintains satisfactory coding performance in accordance with the department’s accuracy target and productivity requirements for each record type.* Abstracts data into the patient abstract fields.* Responds to coding requests from internal and external customers, i.e. business office, physician office.* Requests diagnosis from physician’s office as needed.* Participates in attending educational programs, hospital and departmental staff meeting.* Performs other duties as required by Manager and/or Director.**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:*** High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.* 1 -2 years’ experience coding in an acute care hospital setting preferred.**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:**Certified as any of the following: CCA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-H, RHIT or RHIA.
