Overview
Using advanced knowledge required for the complex analytical functions of this job, the Analyst conducts compliance and privacy investigations using expertise of investigative procedures, research, and analysis. The Analyst applies independent judgment and critical decision making to determine regulatory compliance risk to patients and the organization. Documents and communicates results and findings of compliance research, analysis, and decision-making. Ensures health system compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Identifies, researches and analyzes compliance and regulatory risk
- Researches and collects all data points relevant to the issue being investigated
- Analyzes actual and/or potential compliance risk to patients and the organization using advanced knowledge of federal, state and local regulations
- Demonstrates expertise in effectively interviewing witnesses
- Makes a determination of risk based upon discretion, judgement and regulatory analysis
- Comprehensively documents all aspects of the investigation; communicates determination to all stakeholders and involved parties
- Oversees corrective action plans and strategies to mitigate the compliance risk
- Reports and communicates findings to federal agencies as appropriate
- Partners with CISO and HIT Information Security team on HIPAA related matters
- Provides effective coordination of departmental projects/operations
- Project goals are established in collaboration with leadership and are aligned with the goals and objectives of the department
- Project plans are developed and implemented to meet goals
- Project progress is monitored and adjustments are made to meet deadlines
- Internal and external resources are utilized in an efficient and cost-effective manner
- Responsibility is assumed as the primary point-of-contact for projects
- Works with internal and external partners to ensure an integrated process
- Identifies and resolves problems

- Prepares comprehensive, accurate and timely reports
- Prepares timely responses to regulatory agencies for leadership review
- Formulates recommendations for Medical Center and health system policy and procedure changes based on regulatory changes
- Conducts on-site surveys and audits of project activities and documentation per project plan and needs
- Develops effective networks and represents the Medical Center and health system

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelors Degree preferred, or Equivalent Education and Experience in hospital and/or academic medical center compliance and privacy related field.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a compliance and privacy related field.
Licensure: Healthcare compliance certification through the HCCA is preferred.
Physical Demands
Job requires frequently walking (distance: 1 mile). Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.
