We are on the lookout for experienced and credentialed outpatient coders to strengthen our team. Candidates must possess exceptional attention to detail and a strong grasp of medical terminology. Key Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records and accurately assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
  • Sequence codes based on detailed medical record documentation.
  • Assign appropriate discharge dispositions.
  • Abstract and input coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
  • Identify and communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to relevant individuals for follow-up and resolution.
  • Maintain a coding accuracy rate of at least 95% while meeting designated productivity standards.
  • Track continuing education credits to maintain professional credentials.
  • Participate in educational meetings and in-services sponsored by Datavant Health.
  • Exhibit initiative and sound judgment in job execution.
  • Collaborate professionally with co-workers, management, and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement matters.
  • Demonstrate a professional and efficient work ethic.
  • Adhere to the standards set by the American Health Information Management Association's code of ethics.
  • Prioritize customer service by showcasing professionalism, dependability, and eagerness to learn.
  • Handle complex work functions and decision-making processes effectively.
  • Showcase strong organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Comply with all HIM Division Policies.

Qualifications:

  • AHIMA certifications (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certifications (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC) are required.
  • A minimum of 2 years coding experience in a hospital or consulting setting.
  • Proficiency in various coding specialties including Same Day Surgery, Observation, Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, and E/M leveling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional time management abilities, particularly in a remote work environment.
  • Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software is essential.
  • Must complete an annual Introductory HIPAA examination and additional assigned tests successfully.

The pay range for this position is $20-$35 per hour, based on experience, skills, and other job qualifications.
