Description:
Responsible for diagnosis coding for all laboratory records according to established guidelines.
Assists with laboratory registrations as needed.
Coordinates ICD-10 coding and follow-up with physician offices.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Understands and adheres to performance standards, policies, and behaviors.
Reviews and confirms all laboratory requisitions for appropriate diagnosis coding.
Enters appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes in the health information system.
Coordinates contacts with physician offices for diagnosis and/or ICD-10 codes if not provided on the referring prescription.
Documents phone conversations with physician offices according to guidelines.
Assists with patient follow-up as needed.
Consults on coding education issues as required.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
High School Graduate able to type 45 words per minute.
Knowledge of CPT-4 and ICD-10 codes preferred.
Medical terminology knowledge is required.
