Role Overview:

  • Review medical records to accurately code diagnoses and procedures.
  • Sequence codes based on medical record documentation.
  • Assign appropriate discharge dispositions.
  • Abstract and input coded data for statistical and reporting purposes.
  • Identify and communicate documentation improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% and meet productivity standards.
  • Track continuing education credits to uphold professional credentials.
  • Engage in Datavant Health-sponsored educational meetings.
  • Demonstrate initiative and sound judgment in your responsibilities.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and healthcare staff.
  • Exhibit professionalism, flexibility, and a customer-service focus.
  • Handle complex work functions and decision-making with ease.
  • Show strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Adhere to HIM Division Policies and ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, CRC) certification required.
  • Minimum 2 years of coding experience in a hospital or coding consulting environment.
  • Proficient in various coding specialties, including Same Day Surgery and Emergency Department coding.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in remote work and time management.
  • Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software is essential.
  • Pass the annual Introductory HIPAA examination and other required assessments.

The base pay range for this position is $20 - $35 per hour, which may vary based on location, responsibilities, skills, and experience.
