Supports coding compliance activities and provides coding education to MTF staff.Qualifications:Strong computer and communication skillsKnowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, coding guidelines, documentation, medications, and reimbursementAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesEducation & Certification:Preferred certifications:RHIT, RHIA, CPC, COC, CCS, or CCS-PMinimum 3 years outpatient coding experience (2 years if in a Military Treatment Facility)Associate's degree in HIM, medical coding certificate, or equivalent college courseworkMaintain required continuing education at no cost to the governmentExperience:Minimum 3 years outpatient/ambulatory coding experience within the last 5 years (or 2 years MTF)Experience coding multiple medical and surgical specialties using ICD, E&M, CPT, and HCPCSLimited billing-only, ancillary, or non-ambulatory coding does not qualifyKey Duties:Assign accurate codes in government systems (CHCS, MHS GENESIS, AHLTA, Essentris)Ensure documentation supports coding and meets DoD and accreditation standardsParticipate in audits, compliance activities, and special studiesEducate providers and staff on coding requirementsMaintain reports, attend required meetings and trainingsWork Environment:Primarily sedentary with routine computer use; occasional lifting or movement of medical records.Monday through Friday from 0730 - 1630
