We collaborate with these facilities to deliver state-of-the-art wound care directly at the bedside, ensuring comprehensive documentation, seamless EMR integration, and compliance with payer guidelines.
We are looking for a dedicated Medical Coder with expertise in wound care to join our dynamic team. This position is essential for ensuring that patient encounters and the use of cellular tissue products are coded and billed accurately and promptly across various facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and code wound care services in long-term care and post-acute settings accurately, ensuring compliance with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and payer requirements.
- Independently code without relying on a provider superbill, using clinical notes and documentation as the primary source.
- Release daily coding batches to facilitate timely revenue cycle processing.
- Code red-label (cellular tissue) products while ensuring proper documentation of lot numbers and application details.
- Collaborate closely with the billing team to rectify coding errors and address claim rejections or denials.
- Create detailed coding reports and batch logs for submission to the Director of Operations.
- Work together with billing and operations teams to resolve coding discrepancies and ensure compliance.
- Stay updated with payer and CMS changes affecting wound care coding, documentation, and compliance.
- Maintain high standards of coding accuracy, productivity, and adherence to compliance regulations.
Qualifications
- Certification preferred: CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS, or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in medical coding; experience in wound care or long-term care is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines.
- Ability to code from clinical notes independently, without superbill support.
- Experience coding cellular tissue/red-label products is a plus.
- Proficient in generating coding reports, logs, and documentation for error correction.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage daily coding batches efficiently.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
