Job specification - Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for specialized medical services based on medical records, physician documentation, and regulatory guidelines.
- Review and verify patient information for coding accuracy, ensuring that all relevant documentation supports the assigned codes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures for accurate coding and billing processes.
- Maintain compliance with coding standards, payer guidelines, and federal regulations to optimize revenue cycle management and reduce claim denials.
- Perform audits and reviews of coded documentation to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement.
Candidate requirements Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding, with a focus on specialty coding such as cardiology, oncology, or orthopedics. Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems and medical terminology. Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze complex medical documentation. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and coding software.
