Your Role: As an Environmental Compliance Auditor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring environmental standards are upheld and regulations are met. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional who can work independently and collaboratively with our team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform thorough compliance audits of Developer-performed environmental inspections and documentation.
- Review Environmental Compliance Reports, inspection logs, and corrective action records from the Developer for precision and thoroughness.
- Verify effective implementation of approved Comprehensive Environmental Protection Plan (CEPP), Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and erosion/sediment control measures.
- Conduct field inspections to assess environmental practices and ensure compliance with applicable permits, including NPDES, Section 404/401.
- Document findings meticulously; provide detailed audit reports with actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with the Environmental OV Manager, construction teams, and regulatory agencies as necessary.
- Assist in environmental incident responses and participate in lessons-learned sessions.
- Maintain organized documentation and aid in compliance reporting to Owners and oversight agencies.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field with 2 years of relevant environmental construction/compliance experience or equivalent.
- Sound understanding of construction plans, specifications, and permits, particularly focusing on Georgia's sediment and erosion control practices.
- Practical knowledge of Section 10/404/401 permits and their conditions.
- Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission Level 1A Certification (Certified Personnel) or the ability to obtain it.
- 4+ years of environmental construction/compliance experience with transportation projects managed by the GDOT is preferred.
- Experience in interpreting transportation plans.
- Capable of discussing compliance issues effectively with colleagues, clients, regulatory agency representatives, and contractors.
- Skilled in writing clear and concise technical inspection reports.
- Proficient in computer applications (MS Office and web-based inspection report databases).
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) review.
- Experience with design-build transportation projects is a plus.
- Able to multitask, handle detail-oriented tasks, work independently, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills are essential.
