We are seeking experienced and credentialed outpatient coders to enhance our team. Candidates should have exceptional attention to detail and a robust understanding of medical terminology. This fully remote role offers a flexible schedule, allowing you to contribute to the future of healthcare from your own workspace!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review medical records and accurately assign codes for diagnoses and procedures.
  • Sequence codes based on thorough medical record documentation.
  • Assign appropriate discharge dispositions.
  • Abstract and input coded data for hospital statistics and reporting.
  • Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate individuals for follow-up and resolution.
  • Maintain at least a 95% coding accuracy rate and meet designated productivity standards.
  • Track continuing education credits to uphold professional credentials.
  • Attend educational meetings and in-services sponsored by Datavant Health.
  • Show initiative and sound judgment while performing job duties.
  • Collaborate professionally with co-workers, management, and hospital staff on clinical and reimbursement topics.
  • Exhibit a professional and efficient work ethic.
  • Adhere to the standards set by the American Health Information Management Association's code of ethics.
  • Prioritize customer service, showing professionalism, dependability, and eagerness to learn.
  • Manage complex work functions and decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Comply with all HIM Division Policies.

Qualifications:

  • AHIMA certifications (RHIA, RHIT, CCS) or AAPC certifications (CPC, CPC-H, COC, CIC, or CRC) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years coding experience in a hospital or consulting environment.
  • Proficiency in various coding specialties including Same Day Surgery, Observation, Ancillary, Emergency Department, Injections/Infusions, and E/M leveling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional time management, especially in a remote work environment.
  • Experience with computerized encoding and abstracting software is essential.
  • Must successfully complete an annual Introductory HIPAA examination and other assigned tests.

The pay range for this position is $20-$35 per hour, depending on experience, skills, and other job requirements.
