The ideal candidate must have at least 5 years of coding experience with facility inpatient services. The position requires one to be resourceful, organized, independent, and extremely driven./ppThe ideal candidate will possess the following:/pulliMinimum 5 years of coding experience/liliExtensive coding in all aspects of inpatient coding/liliHigh level of proficiency in anatomy, physiology, disease process, and pharmacology/liliExcellent written and verbal communication skills/liliDetail oriented and deadline driven attitude/liliSound knowledge of medical terminology/liliStrong computer skills (Excel, Word, and internet)/liliAbility to think critically/liliAbility to multitask and keep a sense of urgency/liliExcellent customer service skills/liliStrong time management, organization skills, and work ethic/li/ulpJob Duties:/pulliAccurately code medical records for all inpatient services/liliFollow current ICD-10-CM and PCS coding guidelines/liliAccurately assign POA (Present on Admission) indicators/liliUnderstand and apply MS-DRGs and APR-DRGs/liliAbstract additional client elements (ie: providers, surgical dates, etc)/liliAbility to communicate effectively with Clinical Documentation Improvement specialists and reconcile DRGs/liliAbility to work independently and meet project deadlines/liliStay updated about new coding rules as codes routinely change/liliResponsible and accountable for maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information.
