About the Role
Coder, Hospital Outpatient at SSM Health. Remote position (MO-REMOTE) communicating from home. Worker type: Regular. Eligible for remote work in accordance with SSM policies. Note that remote work is not permissible in some states; consult Human Resources for guidance.

Must reside in Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin (additional states may be considered).
Job Summary
Responsible for coding and abstracting outpatient hospital accounts in accordance with coding guidelines.
Responsibilities
Assign accurate diagnostic and procedure codes for outpatient hospital accounts according to clinical documentation and official coding guidelines.
Review HCPCS charges and codes for appropriateness of modifiers in relation to NCCI/CCI edits, entering accurate charge information where appropriate.
Monitor assigned work queues to ensure all records are charged in a timely manner.
Generate coding queries for clarification of physician documentation as needed.
Stay abreast of all changes in coding conventions and updates.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience.

Frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching; repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more); identify and distinguish colors.
Frequent use of hearing and speech for oral communication; sense alarms, machinery malfunction.
Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping.
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
Rare climbing.
