The Supervisor, Biomedical Engineering, Radiology Equipment Specialist (RES) provides supervision of the technical staff in preventative maintenance, repair and calibration of medical imaging equipment, equipment installations, and other functions within the DTS-Bio-Medical Engineering Department at Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH).

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • BS degree in (Electronics or Biomedical Engineering Technology) with 8 years BMET RES work experience, or AS degree in (Electronics or Biomedical Engineering Technology) with 10 years BMET RES work experience, or completion of U.S. military biomedical equipment technology program with 10 years fulltime BMET RES work experience, or High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs with 12 years BMET RES work experience.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of electronic/mechanical devices with a focus on medical imaging devices.
  • Demonstrates understanding and can communicate the use of all patient care medical imaging devices.
  • Demonstrates ability to locate and follow manufacturer documentation used to support medical imaging devices.
  • Demonstrates understanding of computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Demonstrates ability to access public FDA 510k information about patient care medical devices.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of device recalls and their purpose.
  • Exhibits understanding and supports customer service principles.
  • Familiar with the operations and environment that they support (hospital, clinic, etc.).
  • Has advanced experience in their assigned clinical environment.
  • Unrestricted ability to attend both on the job training as well as offsite and/or out of state training requiring travel that can include one or more overnight stays.
  • Demonstrates understanding of local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of various types of patient care medical equipment along with associated risks.
  • Demonstrates understanding of patient care medical equipment, radiographic equipment, laboratory equipment, and network equipment.
  • Demonstrates basic terminology used in project management.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current technology and its uses as it relates to healthcare.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • AS Degree, or higher, with 10 years fulltime BMET RES work experience or at least 12 years full time experience in a hospital environment or 12 years full time experience working in a hospital setting for a medical equipment manufacturer.
  • Experience leading other BMET RES team members.
  • Extensive knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, NRC, NJDOH, and etc. standards.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • Valid motor vehicle operators license.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered. Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
