Position: Experienced OT/PT/SLP Medical Biller (Remote W2 employee)
Location: Florida, Maryland, Virginia, or Idaho residents only
Start Date: January 12, 2026
Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Hours: Up to 40 hours per week

Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Experienced OT/PT/SLP Medical Biller to join our dynamic healthcare billing team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately processing and submitting claims for outpatient occupational therapy (OT), physical therapy (PT), and speech-language pathology (SLP) services. Your expertise will ensure timely reimbursement, compliance with coding standards, and smooth revenue cycle management. Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Medical Biller to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in private practice medical billing, with particular expertise in therapy services billing. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and process Explanation of Benefits (EOBs)
  • Process Electronic Remittance Advice (ERAs) and post payments accurately
  • Submit clean claims to insurance companies
  • Research and resolve claim denials
  • Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding claims
  • Communicate professionally with practices, patients, and insurance companies
  • Maintain accurate billing records and documentation
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable billing regulations and guidelines

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit medical claims for outpatient OT, PT, and SLP services using appropriate billing codes, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
  • Ensure all claims are accurate, complete, and compliant with current regulations and payer requirements.
  • Review medical records and documentation to verify the accuracy of diagnoses, procedures, and coding details before submission.
  • Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies.
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to access patient information, update records, and streamline billing processes.
  • Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim submissions, adjustments, and payments for audit purposes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding discrepancies that may delay reimbursement.
  • Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Assist in resolving billing issues related to medical records or insurance claims promptly and professionally.
  • Support the overall revenue cycle process by generating reports on billing performance and identifying opportunities for process improvements.

Requirements

  • Prefer 5+ years of medical billing experience in private practice settings
  • Demonstrated experience with therapy services billing (OT/PT/SLP)
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record systems
  • Strong knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 coding, and billing regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Reliable internet connection and appropriate home office setup
  • Must reside in Florida, Maryland, Virginia, or Idaho
  • Proven experience in medical billing specifically for outpatient OT, PT, or SLP services with a strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement processes.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology related to occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech-language pathology services.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems commonly used in outpatient clinics or healthcare facilities.
  • Strong understanding of medical records management and documentation review procedures.
  • Ability to navigate complex insurance policies and perform effective medical collection activities.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in coding and claim submission processes.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients when necessary.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations governing medical billing practices and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Work Schedule

  • Required Schedule: Monday through Friday
  • Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (with 1-hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Friday Requirement: Must be available to work until 2:00 PM minimum
  • Schedule requirements are based on business operational needs

Compensation and Benefits

Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour

Compensation is determined based on:

  • Relevant private practice billing experience
  • Professional certifications (AAPC preferred)
  • Specialized therapy billing expertise
  • Overall qualifications and experience
