Physician (ProFee) Coding Manager - Remote

Job Description

Assists the CMP Revenue Cycle Director (“Director”) in planning, administering, and directing the day-to-day operations of the coding department of Citizens Medical Professionals (“CMP”).      

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develops and carries-out departmental goals and objectives in conjunction with the organization’s mission, strategic plans, and other identified needs, as well as in the planning, supervising, coordinating and directing the activities of the department. (EF)
  2. Monitors coding operations and recommends departmental policy and procedures to CMP’s Revenue Cycle Director and complies with and enforces hospital and department policies and procedures, including oversight and compliance with CMP’s coding and documentation policies. (EF)
  3. Coordinates with the CMP providers and clinics, as well as physician patient access and billing departments, on coding and documentation processes so that maximum financial reimbursement can be obtained. (EF)
  4. Plans, organizes, and directs staffs and controls provider coding activities: oversees clinic and facility-based coding for all professional service; educates, trains, and advises providers and coding staff on the correct use of ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes; conducts regular audits and monitors coding accuracy and documentation adequacy; ensures productivity and accuracy requirements are consistently met; reviews, corrects, and responds to coding rejections, denials, and appeals; ensures that assigned areas conform to organizational standards, goals, objectives, and requirements.   5. Plans, assigns, directs, and monitors the work of subordinate staff: develops, and/or approves staff schedules; analyzes, and distributes staff assignments, and workloads; evaluates employee performance; recommends, and implements employee disciplinary actions as appropriate; responds to grievances, and complaints; initiates, and coordinates staff selection, and training processes; ensures that staff activities comply with organizational expectations.   6. Responds to concerns, and/or complaints from patients, the public, the medical staff, subordinates, and/or other hospital employees pertaining to assigned areas in order to maintain positive customer relations; researches and investigates issues; prepares written or oral responses as needed.   7. Determines the resources (equipment, supplies, space, etc.) necessary to carry out the functions of the department. 
  8. Assists the CMP Revenue Cycle Director in the preparation of the departments operating and capital budgets and manages the operations of the department within the approved budget.
  9. Acts as a resource person to clinics, hospital departments, and Medical Staff requesting ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, HCPCS, modifier, or payer coding information, clarification, and documentation requirements. (EF)
  10. Remains current with the most recent billing and coding standards, insurance payer policies, and state and federal regulations, to comply with all requirements regarding billing and coding practices. (EF)
  11. Maintains necessary quality control (audit) programs. (EF)
  12. Actively participates in all required departmental meetings, trainings, and other required in-service.
