Carestl Health is seeking A Billing Clerk I (Certified Coder) The Billing Clerk I is responsible for billing duties which includes coding updates as necessary, posting charges, follow-up and appealing claims and assisting patients with billing questions. This position has responsibility for demonstrating the core values of CareSTL Health: Customer Service, Community, Commitment, Compassion, and Competence. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Coding updates as necessary * Ensuring billing compliance consistent with AMA coding and insurance guidelines * Ensure timely filing of insurance claims to clearing house or insurance companies electronically or via paper * Work rejections/denials via remits, payer portals, clearinghouse, and submits appeals when needed * Daily posting of patient and insurance payments manually and via file import JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education: * High School Diploma or GED required * Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Experience: * Two years of customer service * Demonstrated knowledge of CPT,ICD-10, and applicable billing terminology Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Good computer skills including the use of database, word processing, and e-mail software * Must have the ability to understand and put into practice new directives in a short period of time * Knowledge of Third Party, Medicare and Medicaid payers required * Knowledge of Medical, Dental, Behavioral health, Podiatry and Optometry services * Must have the ability to perform accurate data collection and entry on clients * Must have the ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment * Must have the ability to read and interpret billing manuals and other relevant materials Additional Information: * Clinic hours are Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. * 11 paid holidays per year. * Full benefits package. * Public Service Loan Forgiveness. *We believe that health care is right and not a privilege.
