GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Certified Coder is responsible for coding and billing of surgical procedures, hospital consultations and MRIs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain billing from the billing queue as well as hospital databases;
Review documentation for proper coding and manually bill consultations and procedures in accordance with billing and coding guidelines;
Coordinate with PCCs in obtaining missing billing or medical record;
Review and resolve coding claim rejections and invalids;
Review and resolve coding claim denials: sending appeals when necessary;
Other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school Diploma or equivalent required, College preferred;
CPC or COSC certification required;
High-level understanding of coding guidelines; Orthopedics coding experience preferred;
Detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology;
Understanding of insurance carriers and plans;
Good verbal and written communication skills.

This position will be based in our business office located at 30 Century Hill Drive in Latham, NY.
This is an “in office” position in a safe work environment (COVID safety protocols in effect).
