 This temporary position is located in Raleigh, NC - Wake County.


 Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $39.39 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application). 

 
 This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services This position is located at 4312 District Drive, Raleigh, NC 27607.

his position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services Division PH - Epidemiology - State Lab & OCME-Molecular Diagnostics and Molecular Epidemiology Unit.  This position is dedicated to ARLN activities and will serve as the general supervisor for technical staff performing testing for ARLN activities as well as all regulatory and quality assurance duties. This position will be a working supervisor providing testing support for ARLN activities including review of test results and QC, leading staff in assay validations for real-time PCR for ?-lactamase and OXA STRECK kits for CRE, CRPA, and CRAB.  Additional responsibilities will include WGS for selected CRE/CRPA/CRAB isolates.

  • The successful candidate for this position must meet the CLIA '88 requirements for general supervisor in a high complexity laboratory. Candidates must attach a copy of their transcripts to the application or provide an unofficial copy of their transcripts at the time of the interview.   
  • Must have previous supervisory experience, such as a Unit Supervisor, Group Lead, or similar.
  •  Must have excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills.     
  • Must have a broad knowledge of molecular microbiology principles including real time PCR and WGS.
  • Must have knowledge of the hazards of working with potentially infectious materials and the appropriate safety precautions to avoid infections.   
  • Must have an extensive knowledge of quality assurance including proficiency testing, quality control standards and laboratory procedures.
  • Must have the ability to research and develop policies and standard operating procedures, safety checklists and training materials and could implement necessary changes with management approval.                                                                                                                                  

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a laboratory in the assigned area, one of which is in a supervisory or other leadership capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  

Management Preferences:
3+ years of experience working in a CLIA laboratory with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
