Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Front Office Medical Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes and insurance guidelines, with a minimum of two years working in a physician’s office or certification as a Certified Professional Biller (CPB).
Key Responsibilities:
• Verification and Calculating Patient Responsibility: Ensure all required patient demographic and insurance information is accurate, verify eligibility, coverage, referrals, and authorizations are on file, and check patient accounts for balances due before check-in.
• Entry of Medical bills, Payment Posting, and Reconciliation: Identifying patient responsibility based on benefits and collecting balances due at checkout, enter medical billing data from the physician's superbills, including CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes with the appropriate modifiers based on Medicare, Commercial, and Workers Comp guidelines, and all billing data entries are complete and correct for each claim before submission and reconciled at the end of the day.
• Patient & Staff Communication: Communicate with insurance providers to clarify coverage or claim issues and liaise with parents/guardians regarding insurance questions or additional information required. Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to gather any supporting documents needed for claims.
• Compliance and Record-Keeping: Maintain organized billing records and audit trails for all claims and transactions. Ensure HIPAA compliance by protecting sensitive patient information and following all privacy regulations in billing practices.
Required Qualifications:
• Experience: Certification such as Certified Professional Biller (CPB) preferred or 2-3 years working in physician office medical billing.
• Knowledge: Strong understanding of healthcare insurance claim processes, medical billing terminology, and reimbursement rules.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in medical billing software and standard office software (e.g., practice management systems, EMR, Excel, Word). Ability to quickly learn new software or electronic health record systems.
• Regulatory Compliance: Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. Basic familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) helps understand documentation, though this role does not perform the coding and ICD-10 extractions.
• Leadership Ability: Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects or processes. proven organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple billing deadlines.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred, but not required.
