As the Coding and Billing Supervisor, you are adaptable, communicative, and a self-starter. You will play a crucial role in managing the coding and billing team as well as the processes that ensure accuracy and compliance. The Coding and Billing team reviews documentation, accurately codes and keys medical procedures for reimbursement, and regularly interacts with providers and members of the Accounts Receivable team. The Coding and Billing Supervisor provides regular updates to the Revenue Cycle Manager, prioritizes and assigns work for the Coding and Billing team, identifies training needs, manages resources, and resolves escalated issues. This supervisory position requires strong leadership skills, proficiency in oral and written communication, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of medical coding and billing practices. This role is full-time, in office.
Responsibilities
Supervise, mentor, and train a team of coding and billing specialists to ensure productivity and accuracy in all aspects of the coding and billing processes
Monitor key performance indicators and metrics to track coding and billing accuracy and productivity
Provide feedback and annual evaluations for the Coding & Billing team
Maintain working knowledge of coding & billing practices and trends to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines, including HIPAA, Medicare, and Medicaid
Update, develop, and implement coding and billing policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Conduct regular audits to review coding practices and identify areas for improvement
Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies and optimize revenue cycle management
Administrative level responsibilities for technology related resources specific to the Billing and Coding team such as billing software and coding resources
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred; associate’s degree in a related field required
Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding and billing
Minimum of two years supervisory experience
Current CPC certification or equivalent; CPC preferred
Thorough knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and medical terminology
Strong understanding of medical billing processes, insurance claims, and reimbursement
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal teams
Proficiency in coding and billing software and electronic medical record systems
Experience interacting with various major health insurance providers
Must be comfortable with technology and able to manage various processing systems including billing software, Office 365, and Excel
