We are a specialized neurology and pain management clinic participating in AAPC’s Project Xtern to provide real-world experience for aspiring Certified Professional Coders. Our externship program offers practical training in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary medical environment. You will:
Gain hands-on experience with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding related to neurology, interventional pain procedures, and behavioral health.
Learn and assist with documentation review and code validation for services such as E&M visits, injections, nerve blocks, Botox treatments, RFA, and telehealth encounters.
Observe workflows in medical billing, prior authorizations, and compliance audits.
Practice using electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and clearinghouse systems.
Must be a current AAPC member and have passed the CPC exam.
Commit to a minimum of 20-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during normal business hours (8 AM – 4:30 PM).
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality (HIPAA compliance), and reliability.
Participate in weekly check-ins with assigned preceptor to review coding accuracy and progress.
