Position Requirements
Coding certification
Minimum 3 years multi-specialty Ambulatory Surgery Center/Outpatient coding experience.
Skills and abilities:
Advanced knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, strong analytical and auditing skills, experience with appropriate coding and billing practices, ability to implement policies and standards with proficiency, expertise with requirements of third-party payors, experience with differing reimbursement systems, strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Primary position responsibilities:
Provide coder audits.
Answer coding questions from coding teammates.
Provide educational teleconferences on correct coding.
Write educational material on correct coding.
Assist with coding presentations at annual coding team meeting.
Review center coding denials and assist with the appeal of coding denials.
Provide physician education and physician queries.
Perform other specialized audits to monitor compliance with standards and regulations.
Assist with management of data related to performance and performance improvement.
Secondary position responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one coding education as needed.
Assist with Center audits.
Assist with special projects related to coding and compliance.
Other duties as assigned.
