Location: New York, NY (open to fully remote) 

Position: Senior Coding Manager

Rendr is looking for a Senior Coding Manager to manager and oversee daily operations, including but not limited to, overseeing the entire coding department and staff, data collection, analysis and reporting to meet the department’s goals. The coding manager is responsible for the development and ongoing maintenance of the Coding team.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborates with Supervisor of Physician Coding Liaison & Physician Coding Liaisons to effectively respond to provider inquiries and improve coding workflows
  • Establishes strategies for the development of coding standards and policies in order to ensure consistency across departments
  • Troubleshoots coding and documentation issues
  • Develops and delivers training curricula to improve staff understanding and application of physician coding practices
  • Monitors quality control initiatives to ensure that coding efforts are accurate and compliant
  • Participates in the development, testing and implementation of resources to support Providers in coding practices
  • Comprehensive understanding of HCC coding rules, regulations and methodology
  • Helps to identify trends, rising issues, root causes of issues/challenges, and recommending solutions or process improvements
  • Serves as an expert resource to all stakeholders
  • Provides assistance in creating, documenting, and maintaining medical coding related items, including Change Request Logs, Global Coding Guidelines, up versioning documentation or Vendor or Internal related coding reports
  • Assist junior staff to develop competence in coding knowledge and skills by training, managing, and mentoring them
  • Directly supervise the work/activities of staff of the medical coding department
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required
  • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC) strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • A Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including supervision of staff, and thorough knowledge of medical coding. Primary Care and Specialties and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge
  • Prior experience in working with Providers and Medical Staff required
  • Ability to think creatively, highly driven, and self-motivated
  • Ability to break down difficult coding concepts and make them easy to understand
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Strong teaching skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms
  • Strong analytical, instructional, and interpersonal skills required
  • Willingness to commute to office location once every 2 weeks strongly preferred
