Experienced Professional Coder - REMOTE

An opportunity to join and grow with the Pro-Fee Coding Team at The University of Rochester!

We are currently recruiting for an experienced professional coder to join our team. Our coders are detail and goal-oriented professionals who are responsible for extracting CPT, ICD, HCPCS and applicable modifiers from the provider’s operative notes and entering them into our Electronic Medical Record system (Epic).

Job duties include:

·         Read and interpret medical record documentation to identify accurate coding for the encounter.

 ·         Communicate regularly with the providers to ensure that documentation requirements are being met; to clarify conflicting or ambiguous information as needed; and to provide feedback on identified trends.

 ·         Resolve any applicable coding related pre-billing system edits

 ·         Resolve any applicable coding related post-billing insurance denials

The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

·         Experience with applying Basic Coding Guidelines for professional fee coding to accurately assign applicable codes for surgical or non-surgical encounters

·         A strong understanding of medical terminology and anatomy

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

·         Coding experience relevant to the selected position

·         Must have at least one of our accepted credentials/certifications with AAPC or AHIMA

Salary will be commensurate with experience and chosen position, with a starting range of $22 - $25 PH.

Coding positions are remote. Preference will be given to New York State residents. Qualified applicants outside of NY State will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
